Win the Day

In the first newsletter of 2025, I told you that 80% of people abandon their New Year’s resolutions by February.

Well, here we are.

So… how are you doing?

If you’re in the 20% still pushing forward, nice job. Celebrate your tenacity. Keep going. Keep putting in the work. You’ve proven to yourself that what you want matters.

But if you’re in the 80% who let their resolutions slip?

Snap out of it. Recommit. Get up. Stop making excuses.

And no, I’m not asking you to. I’m telling you to.

Yeah, I know the tone of this newsletter is gonna piss some of you off and put you on the defensive, but listen—someone needs to care about you enough to advocate for the future you said you wanted. Someone needs to believe in you enough to hold you accountable to the goals you once believed in.

And if you think it’s too late now… or that you’ll "start fresh in the spring"?

You’re wrong.

Win the Day.

A while back, my friend Mark introduced me to a simple but powerful idea: winning the day.

Think of your day like a game. It has four quarters, and how you play each one determines your final score.

First Quarter: 6:00 - 9:00 AM

This is where most people quit before they even start.

They hit snooze too many times.

They magnify every inconvenience, frustration, and setback—spilling their coffee, getting stuck in traffic, arguing with their partner. And just like that, they declare:

"This day sucks. I just want to crawl back into bed."

Really? The whole day sucks because your morning was rough?

You still have three more quarters to play.

Second Quarter: 9:00 - 12:00 PM

Did your morning actually suck? Cool. Reset. Rally. Dig in.

This is your chance to shift the momentum.

Third Quarter: 12:00 - 3:00 PM

Maybe your first half was shaky. No problem.

It doesn’t mean the day ends as it began.

Use this quarter to course-correct, refocus, and push forward.

Fourth Quarter: 3:00 - 6:00 PM

This is where you finish strong.

If you’ve built momentum, keep going.

Give it everything you’ve got, which is probably way more than you realize and definitely more than you feel.

Overtime: 6:00 PM Onward

Still feel behind? Go into overtime.

Netflix and doom scrolling can wait.

  • Catch up with your partner.

  • Play with your kids. Hear about their day. Laugh with them.

  • Get the workout in.

  • Write the page. Make the call. Build the business. Do the thing.

  • Even fold and put away the laundry.

Because the game isn’t over until you decide it is.

Win the Moments.

You don’t win the day by luck.

You win it by showing up in the small moments—choosing to be present, focused, and committed.

And I know it’s not always easy.

But the life you want? It’s worth rising for.

And it’s worth working for.

So now what?

Win the moments.

Win the day.

And win this year. We’re only in the first quarter, after all.

If today hasn’t been going your way? Shift your mindset.

If your goals feel out of reach? Stretch.

If you’ve been waiting for a “better time” to start? Reset now.

Because as much as I believe in you, you’re the only one who can rescue your dreams.

So no, it’s not too late.

It’s not over.

And it’s definitely still worth striving for.

Now get up.

Keep going—Boldly, ever upward.
